Collection: Virgin Islands Madras Designs
VIRGIN ISLANDS MADRAS COLLECTION
Designed by textile designer Debbie Sun of St. Croix through a grant awarded by the Virgin Islands Council on the Arts, the U.S. Virgin Islands’ official textile was unveiled last year.
Turquoise represents the water that surrounds the Virgin Islands, royal blue represents the deep sea harbor, pink represents conch shells, white represents sacks of flour, yellow represents the territory’s official flower (the Ginger Thomas), green represents the natural resources of the Virgin Islands and red stands for strength and love.
The official Virgin Islands Madras fabric, as per Act No 8424, is the official property of the Government of the Virgin Islands of the United States. As such, the VI Madras fabric’s identity has been copyrighted and is protected. The Virgin Islands Council on the Arts (VICA), a division of DPNR, is the custodian of this material.
